How We Got Here - 20 Plus Years of Unrelenting Customer Service
In 1983 - a time when not many people had heard of "staffing" - two entrepreneurs, Stephen
Bisciotti and Jim Davis, had the foresight to imagine a company that paired contract
employment and consulting with top notch customer service. As a result, Aerotek was
formed to cater to Aeronautics, engineering, and light industrial staffing. Hard work and the
early establishment of a customer focused reputation brought Aerotek over $1
million in its first year of operation.
In the late 1980's, Aerotek had developed the first of its subsidiaries, Data Temps, which
was later renamed Maxim Group. Maxim Group's focus was based on Web application development.
In 1990, Aerotek Telecommunications Services was formed to reach the rising demand for
communications services personnel, which later merged with TEKsystems.
In 1993, Aerotek Data Services Group was formed as a division of Allegis Group dedicated to
IT infrastructure, staffing, and solutions. A year later in 1994, TEKsystems emerged as a
leading provider of applications, infrastructure, and communications staffing services.
Aerotek’s first Canadian offices open their doors the following year, in 1995,
in Mississauga, Ontario and Vancouver, BC. An Ottawa office opened soon thereafter, and in
1997 Maxim Group began its operations in Canada.
Starting in 1997, a series of mergers catalyzed significant growth within the scope of
services offered by TEKsystems. That year, Aerotek Data Services Group joined TEKsystems to
offer both staffing and an innovative solution which came to be recognized in the industry as
"managed services.” The final merger occurred in 2002 when sister companies Maxim Group
and TEKsystems united as one of North America’s largest single-source provider of
Information Technology staff augmentation services. The combined entity operated as "TEKsystems"
to offer applications, IT infrastructure, and telecommunications services while maintaining the
company's original emphasis on IT strategic staffing.
By 2003 TEKsystems Canada Inc. had expanded operations into Calgary and
TEKsystems had opened an office in Vancouver Island. TEKsystems Canada has seen continued growth
and its first fully bilingual office opened in Montreal in 2006.
Through many exciting changes and growth periods, our company's initial dedication to
providing high quality IT services combined with the highest levels of customer service has
remained constant. Since our inception, TEKsystems has undergone periods of substantial growth,
which has resulted in the continued and increased ability to accommodate and exceed our client's
technology staffing and services needs.
As you can see, TEKsystems emerged from the growth of our parent company, Allegis Group.
